Posted on July 27th @ 10:19 am ET in Guides & Tips
We know many of you anticipate the first leaked ad to be posted each year. We've compiled a chart which shows the dates we've posted ads during the past 15 years. You'll notice that aside from a few early smaller ads, the more popular ads typically start getting posted in early November. There is some uncertainty when it comes to how the major retailers will handle Black Friday this year. Will they have one major sale or once again have multiple weekly sales? Make sure you're signed up for our free alert mailing list in case an ad gets leaked sooner than expected.

Black Friday 101 for Retailers: Best Practices
Posted on July 27th @ 10:18 am ET in Guides & Tips
We realize that we get many visits from employees of the retailers that we post Black Friday ads from. Given that potential audience of decision-makers within the retail industry, we thought we'd try to help out all of retailers during this holiday shopping season. Several years ago we compiled a list of best practices that stores can follow for a successful day - Black Friday 101 for retailers. We think these ideas still are valid and should be considered.

Kohl's Will Close Their Stores on Thanksgiving Day
Posted on June 17th @ 12:25 pm ET in Industry News
This morning Kohl's joined the other major retailers in announcing that for the second consecutive year they will be closing their stores on Thanksgiving Day. Kohl's joins Walmart, Target, Best Buy and others with similar announcements over the past few months. Kohl's typically starts their Black Friday sale earlier in the week both in stores and online, so this announcement will only affect the special doorbuster deals which will be available in stores on Black Friday and online the night before.
Best Buy Stores Will Be Closed on Thanksgiving Day
Posted on June 9th @ 2:23 pm ET in Industry News
Best Buy today joined Walmart, Target and other retailers by announcing that their stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day once again this year. Best Buy says they'll have more details on their Black Friday sale and store hours in the coming months. It is looking like this year's Black Friday will be a throwback to earlier years where the sales started in the early morning on Black Friday itself, however we still expect the deals to be available online much earlier than Friday morning. Stay tuned for more updates!
Walmart Announces All U.S. Stores Will Close on Thanksgiving
Posted on June 4th @ 4:21 pm ET in Industry News
Walmart today announced that all of their U.S. store locations will be closed on Thanksgiving Day this year. They join other retailers including Target and Dick's Sporting Goods who made similar announcements several months ago. We expect more of these announcements to come. Walmart says they'll have normal hours on the day before Thanksgiving but says details of their Black Friday sale including store hours will be announced at a later date. As always we'll be covering everything related to Black Friday later this year, so be sure to follow us so you don't miss a thing.
Black Friday Countdown: 6 Months Until Black Friday 2021
Posted on May 26th @ 1:17 pm ET in Industry News
We are officially half-way to Black Friday 2021. Today marks the 6 month point in the countdown towards the big day. We expect Black Friday to look closer to normal this year, although some of the changes made last year such as stores being closed on Thanksgiving Day will likely continue. Rest assured, regardless of what happens we'll be here to cover all the deals whether they are in store or online. We'll also have coverage of Prime Day which will be taking place in less than a month. If you want to chat about Black Friday and how it might look this year, you can join us on the forum.
Dick's Sporting Goods Announces Thanksgiving Day Closure
Posted on February 5th @ 9:07 am ET in Industry News
Earlier this week Dick's Sporting Goods announced that they will be closed on Thanksgiving Day this year. Their CEO said the early announcement was to "give our teammates plenty of notice that we will be closed again, so they have the opportunity to plan for their annual traditions." Dick's Sporting Goods joins Target in announcing Thanksgiving Day 2021 closures. We expect many more stores to announce similar closures as Black Friday expands to a longer month-long event once again this year. Stay tuned for more Black Friday updates throughout the year.
Target Announces They Will Close on Thanksgiving Day Again
Posted on January 13th @ 8:49 am ET in Industry News
Target issued a press release this morning discussing their 2020 holiday season. This press release  revealed that Target stores will once again be closed on Thanksgiving Day later this year. Target didn't announce any other details about their holiday plans, such as if the multiple weekly Black Friday sales will once again take place, although Target's sales were up significantly over 2019. It will be interesting to see which of the other major retailers follow Target's lead on this. While we do expect some to also stay closed this year, we could see other retailers viewing this as an opportunity to have the spotlight and get a boost in sales if major stores such as Target are closed that day.
